Capturing the untamed beauty of the world, preserving fleeting moments that remind us of our connection to the earth

Hello! I’m Lindsay Frost, a fourth-generation Coloradan with a lifelong love for capturing the natural beauty of my home state. Growing up in western Colorado, I had the privilege of exploring the rugged landscapes of the western slope with my family. From an early age, photography became a cherished hobby. In elementary school, I was fascinated by disposable cameras, using them to capture any and everything that caught my eye. My parents’ old film camera and Polaroid further fueled my passion, offering me the chance to experiment with different styles of photography.

High school marked a pivotal moment in my journey. I took my first formal photography class, where I learned to use a film camera and delve into the darkroom process. One of my fondest memories from this time was taking my camera and my best friend to Ouray, one of our very favorite towns, and capturing its stunning landscapes. I developed these images in the darkroom at school, marking the beginning of a lifelong interest in photography.

A highlight of my early years was a month-long trip to Europe. My mom and I carried a huge bag of drop-in film canisters to accompany my camera at that time, documenting our travels through multiple countries. This experience ignited my passion for capturing moments on film, a passion that continued during my freshman year at Fort Lewis College in Durango, where I took another formal film and darkroom class.

As I transitioned to digital photography, I started using early cell phones to document my time studying abroad in France and Spain, as well as my subsequent years at CSU in Fort Collins. It was during this period that my photography evolved from film to digital.

Upon graduating from Regis University for grad school, my parents gifted me my first DSLR camera—a Sony a57 with a kit lens and a 70-300 mm macro lens. Initially overwhelmed by the new technology, I set the camera aside while I focused on my career as an elementary school teacher and the complexities of family life. It wasn’t until nearly a decade later, after getting married and having kids, that I picked up that sweet camera again. I was determined to learn manual mode and master digital post-processing, rekindling my enjoyment of photography.

Today, I’m most passionate about landscape and wildlife photography. Being behind the camera in nature allows me to escape into a creative space that is both calming and exhilarating. This connection with the natural world has been a source of solace and inspiration, especially during challenging times. I also enjoy the occasional backyard wedding, senior, family, and creative shoots with my kids and their friends, which adds a delightful variety to my work.

Through photography, I embrace the joy of continual learning and exploration. I’m thrilled to share my journey and my work with you, and I hope my images offer a glimpse into the beauty and wonder I see every day.
